The City of Malmö owns the land area where Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) operates and all the railway tracks in Malmö Port. As one of Sweden's five Core Ports in the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), Malmö Port plays a vital role in national and international logistics and trade. The City has a responsibility to manage and develop the port area to support sustainable growth and long-term competitiveness.

Malmö Port is a regional engine for economic development, creating jobs, contributing to the green transition, and providing efficient transport infrastructure connecting sea, rail, and road.

As both the city and the port continue to grow, Malmö Port must be developed in a way that balances urban development with the needs of port operations and nationally important infrastructure. To support this, the City of Malmö has adopted a master plan outlining its long-term vision for the port area.

The City is also working closely with the Swedish Transport Administration to strengthen the rail infrastructure serving the port. This will improve intermodal freight transport and support a shift towards more sustainable logistics solutions. In addition to opportunities within the port area, Malmö offers a range of sites for business establishment and expansion, including locations with excellent access to the outer ring road and regional transport networks.
