From Misshipments to Full Control – Using RFID to Improve Logistics Accuracy

Misshipments are a persistent challenge in the logistics industry, with consequences that go far beyond direct costs. When shipments fail to reach the correct recipient or arrive late, it impacts not only operational efficiency but also customer trust and the overall service experience.

The collateral impact of breaking a delivery promise can often be more significant than the direct and indirect financial costs.

In this session, Christian Hammershøy focuses on how logistics operators can become enabled to act proactively and increase their level of service quality and traceability. Based on real-world experiences and practical use cases, the session demonstrates how RFID technology can automatically scan and validate shipments during the loading process—enabling the prevention of errors before they occur, rather than mitigating them after the customer has already been impacted.
The session will also address the handling of return flows and circular logistics assets such as RTI (returnable transport items), where accurate inventory management and asset accountability are essential to avoid losses, misplacements, and to right-size asset pools.

Finally, the session explores the complexity of warehouse and wholesale operations, where high volumes and speed increase the risk of errors, and where real-time data enables better control and more informed decision-making—shifting operations from guesswork to data-driven execution and ultimately improving delivery quality.

Throughout the session, concrete examples from collaborations with Brdr. Dahl and Ahlsell will be used to illustrate how these principles are applied in practice and how measurable improvements in accuracy, transparency, and operational control can be achieved.
