Hasit Thankey leads the NATO International Staff team responsible for policy development, planning, and coordination related to the capabilities and services required to logistically support and sustain Alliance military forces. Prior to taking this position in March 2024, he served for six years as head of a combined Enablement and Resilience Section, which was also responsible for resilience and civil preparedness.

Before joining the International Staff in 2018, Mr. Thankey spent more than fifteen years in the Policy Group of Canada’s Department of National Defence. In addition to assignments at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa, he also served as Defence Counsellor at Canada’s Joint Delegation to NATO (2013-2017) and as Political Advisor at the Canadian command element supporting the NATO enhanced Forward Presence battlegroup in Latvia (2017-2018).
