Rethinking Global Production Logistics: SAP EWM Template with RISE Strategy at Siemens Healthineers
As part of its global digital transformation, Siemens Healthineers is implementing a standardized SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) template within the RISE with SAP framework. This template is being rolled out globally to enable scalable, cloud-based control of production logistics across multiple countries and manufacturing sites.
A key innovation is the direct control of automated warehouse systems and autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs - Move by Robots) from the cloud, without the need for local middleware or additional integration layers. This enables real-time, intelligent, and end-to-end material flow management with high reliability and reduced system complexity.
The presentation will provide insights into the technical architecture, key challenges of the global rollout, and the strategic value delivered to production operations. Special emphasis will be placed on the integration of automation technology, ensuring system availability, and adapting the template to diverse local production requirements.
