Innovative and Sustainable Rail Solutions: Gaining a Competitive Edge for Nordic Companies in Uncertain Times
Nurminen Logistics, a 138-year-old Finnish company, is a developer of international rail logistics, offering sustainable logistics services between Europe, Asia, and the Nordics and Baltics. Despite the challenges posed by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, we quickly adapted by creating a new railway route with Kazakhstan Railways, bypassing Russia via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. This year, we expanded our international routes by launching a new multimodal connection in Sweden, linking Umeå and Haparanda to Gothenburg. This low-emission rail transport adds significant value to supply chain management, saving costs and reducing emissions. Regular departures enable efficient planning for industrial companies and logistics operators, addressing the need for multiple route options in a volatile geopolitical environment. Our presentation will explore these routes, their business opportunities, and the importance of collaboration in reshaping Nordic logistics.
